Paula Canovas del Vas (パウラ・カノヴァス・デル・ヴァス)
Paula Canovas del Vas(パウラ・カノヴァス・デル・ヴァス)は、スペイン出身でロンドンを拠点とするデザイナーで、セントラル・セント・マーチンズのBA・MA課程を卒業し、ステラ・マッカートニー奨学制度の支援を受けた後に、2018年に設立。
2022年9月、SS23コレクションでパリ・ファッションウィークに参加。
パウラは、2022年におけるLVMHプライズのセミファイナリストに選ばれ、ニューヨーク・タイムズ紙で注目すべき新進気鋭デザイナーとして取り上げられた。自身のブランドを立ち上げる前は、ジョン・ガリアーノ率いるメゾン・マルジェラやグッチで活躍した後、カニエ・ウェストのクリエイティブ・コンサルタントを務めた。
パウラの若々しいデザインは、豊富なリファレンスや工芸技術、シェイプ、テクスチャーそして生地への探求と実践、更にアーティストとのクロスカルチャーなコラボレーションを中心に構築されている。
すべてのコレクションは、主にデッドストックやリサイクル素材を使用して生産されている。
AUTUMN-WINTER 2023
近頃よく耳にする「KPI」という言葉や、「CTA」、「ROI」、はたまた、「UX(ユーザーエクスペリエンス)」という言葉に対し、ものすごく疑問を覚えます。
しかし、このような頭字語が人々の生活に蔓延る以前、人生とは、泡のように自然と
楽しさが湧き出てくるものでした。
今でも覚えていますでしょうか?
幼い頃、実世界もしくは想像上に友達を持ち、真夜中の楽しいひと時を一緒に過ごし
たことを。
夢を見ることが日々の務めであり、言語は学ぶものではなく、発明するものであった
頃のことを。
デザイナーのパウラ・カノヴァス・デル・ヴァスは、まるで生きているような衣服、明確な不条理の表現、デッドストック生地を甦らせるクリエイションを製作します。
23年秋冬コレクションでは、ある一人の人物が大人から青年へ戻り、そして青年から
大人へまた戻り、さらに未踏の先への旅を彷彿とさせるコレクションを発表しました。
その造形は、快活でありながら同時にとても繊細で、思春期のような不安定さがあり
ながらもどこか雄弁で、まるで自然の神秘を展示した博物館で見つけた標本のようで、アシッド・トリップの最中に見る風景のように常に変化し、進化していきます。
一瞬にして、ラメが散りばめられたニーハイのディアブロブーツは、主人公をファウヌスにし、霜降りのようなスリーブからは、雄しべのように芽生え、ニットは自分自身を元の姿に戻すのにせわしく動き回る、そんな情景を想像させます。
象形文字や秘密の魅惑的な方言、顕微鏡で見た標本や微生物、生物学。
カノヴァス・デル・ヴァスの最新コレクションは、大人にとっても、そして大人の誰にでも存在する内なる子供にとっても、興味を湧き立たせるのです。
