Offered for sale is a vintage Sony model CFD-50 stereo boombox. I was the original purchaser of it brand new， way back in 1992， although I no longer have the cash register receipt to prove that. However， the stereo itself is clean， sounds awesome， and is in otherwise great working condition except for the cassette player. All of the functions seem to work well， and correctly， for the radio controls， volume， and CD playback. But， while all the individual control buttons for the tape deck do seem to still work， I cannot get a sample cassette to play for me. It's honestly been like that for years， although someone once told me that it's a relatively common issue with older Sony stereos. Moreover， some folks on YouTube， for example， claim to be able to "fix" the cassette issue by performing a little self-help work inside the unit and changing out the belts. Personally， I haven't ever tried to make those repairs on my own， since I really only ever listened to the radio or the CD player on this stereo， and thus had no actual need. So why am I selling this stereo now， you ask， after owing it for the last 30+ years? Well， the answer to that is quite simple. I've moved to a new house， with less than half the space of my old house， and I no longer really have the excess closet space to keep this in storage. It's as simple as that. What you see in the photos is exactly what you'll get， including the power cord. I have some fond memories of playing this stereo at different times of my life， and I hope that it will serve a (new) buyer for many future years as well.
